Welcome to Axess 4 All
University Challenge 01/04/11
The New Hugh Aston Building at De Montfort University is now complete and the £35 million investment will ensure that undergraduate, postgraduate and professional students can all benefit from this quality, state of the art and enviromentally friendly learning facility.
De Montfort University has strong links with local professional bodies in both business and law so when it came to re-developing the law libary the Main Contractort, Sol Construction approached a local platform lift provider Axess 4 All, based just 5 miles away from the University, for a solution to their access requirement. After metting with the project architect along with the Main Contractor it was agreed that Axess 4 All's A5000 vertical platform lift gave the project the flexibility and options required to blend the lift into the upgraded law library facility.
The library is blessed with a full glazed wall running it's full length allowing natural light to flood in so a major consideration when choosing a platform lift was to maintain the natural light into the library while installing a platform lift to allow DDA compliance to the upper floor of the facility. Being a screw drive platform lift the A5000 has the facility of glazed shaft panels on 3 sides which meant the light would not be resiricted. The lift operates on a 240v power supply and the lighting system on the lift has been set to only operate when the lift is being used, reducing the running cost of the unit and allwoing the University to continue with it's "Green" credentials.
The platform lift was in installed and handed over to the Main Contractor within 3 working days and Axess 4 All revised the installation once the libary staff returned after the completion of the project to provide staff training on the operation of the lift.
